My university is very big on sustainability. A quick search of its web site failed to produce any clear definition of the term, but I think a reasonable interpretation, based on the word itself and how I see it being used, is that it means doing things in such a way that you could continue doing them in that way forever. If so, the idea that sustainability is an essential, even an important, goal strikes me as indefensible. To see why, imagine what it would have meant c. The university existed, it had a lot of students and faculty. None of them had automobiles. Many, presumably, had horses. Sustainability would have included assuring a sufficient supply of pasture land for all those horses into the indefinite future. It might have included assuring a sufficient supply of firewood. It would, in other words, have meant making preparations for a future that was not going to happen. The same is true today.
Making sure we can continue our present activities into the indefinite future makes sense only if we believe that we will be doing those things into the indefinite future.Judged by what we have seen in the past and can guess about the future, that is very unlikely. As a number of my regular readers would know I recently ruptured my Achilles tendon and had to have an operation on it. Well, my ordeal with the scalpel wasn't over after that initial slice and dice meeting.
Five weeks later, having watched Manchester City win the FA Cup final on television, I noticed a swelling where the stitches were.It started to get worse over the next few days. To cut a long story short, I had to have another operation to clean up the wound as it had been impacted by a staph infection. So what is it like going about your normal daily business whilst recovering from an Achilles operation? The answer is quite simple - it's bloody hard. In the early days, just going to the bathroom was an experience as I had to manoeuvre the crutches in the right position before relieving myself. An even bigger challenge was to have a shower. Whilst the cast was on and the stitches were still in, I could not leg the leg get wet. ☆All Photos: How I Met Your Style . One of my Pinterest boards is called, "I've Got Your Number" and believe me, I have numbers. I had removed all my Valentine decor from the house so I decided to put my numbers on display for now. Steve asked me, "why the numbers?" And my reply was, "why not?" I was on a roll and decided to continue the number theme throughout the house. From a distance, you wouldn't notice the numbers here, but a close up shot shows numbers on the bucket and buoys. The only change to the entry was this chair and the numbered weights - to tie it together I added a kitchen towel covered in anchors. I am beginning to recognize my number addiction because these numbered items are still sitting on the shelves in the garden house. If you are ever in need of numbers, drop by because I've got your number. Game Rant presents. Regency Solitary and it's exactly what the name implies: Regency Solitaire is like if a Jane Eyre-inspired visual novel met Solitaire, but somehow managed to be more entertaining, elegant, and engaging than any Solitaire game you’ve ever played. She expresses her feelings through poems, which she leaves throughout the town for no one to read. Lennie finds it hard to share her feelings with anyone, and she cant let go of Bailey. Which do you prefer - items made by hand or items made by machine? Use reasons and specific examples to explain your choice. Some people always ask which one is better, by hand or by machine? For me, both of them have advantages and disadvantages. Items made by hand are delicate and beautiful in an appearance. For example, most of people like Chinese silk made by hand. The reason is that not only the silk is too delicate to use machine to sew, but also a good piece of hand-made silk will make customers feel it likes a master piece in a degree. As we know, there still have many ladies to prefer the tailor-made clothes. Why? The reason is very simple because they think only tailors can meet their needs. We can imagine after the tailor sews the piece stitch by stitch, how it is marvelous to be!On the other hand, items made by machine have been widely accepted around the world because of the introduction of the machine. The whereabouts of those who have not yet been released remain unknown. They are at risk of torture or other ill-treatment. The relatives of those detained have expressed concern at the reports of excessive use of force by security forces in their operation to dismantle the four makeshift camps built by protesters.
